Our Team

Shawn Harris is a respected law enforcement and security professional, licensed private investigator, and founder of MA1 Security & Investigative Services. He began his career in the United States Navy as a Master-at-Arms, serving in Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom, and earning numerous awards for his service. Following his military career, Commissioner Harris dedicated more than two decades to law enforcement, serving in specialized roles including Emergency Services, Mayor’s Security Detail, Internal Affairs, and Sergeant. In 2016, he was appointed Deputy Police Commissioner for the City of Mount Vernon, NY, and the following year became Police Commissioner of Public Safety until his retirement in 2020. A graduate of Mercy University, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management with a specialization in Homeland Security. Drawing on his extensive background in security operations, planning, and management, he founded MA1 Security & Investigative Services in 2019 to deliver high-quality security and investigative support. Commissioner Harris is an active member of several professional organizations, including ASIS International, NOBLE, IACP, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Shawn C. Hobson, Assistant Director of Operations

Shawn C. Hobson is a retired United States Navy veteran who has a lifetime of public service. He is currently active with the New York State Unified Court System as a Senior Court Officer where he specializes in building security, and personal protection of Judges and other court officials. Prior to his current role, Mr. Hobson served with the New York City Police Department and New York City Department of Corrections. Mr. Hobson is a respected professional who has over 30 years of security and law enforcement experience related to special events, personal protection, buildings and facilities, emergency action planning and physical security.
